Al’s practice has been devoted almost exclusively to defending criminal clients in Federal and State Court.  Al has represented juveniles charged with serious delinquent acts in Iowa’s Juvenile Courts.  Al has represented indigent clients in criminal cases in the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa.  Al has been a full partner in the firm since the time he joined in January, 2011.  Al has spoken at CLE events on the subjects of voir dire, motions to suppress and defending firearms cases.  In 2010 Al received the John Adams award from the IACDL.  In 2013 he was inducted as a Fellow into the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers.
